A multimedia degree requires a strong educational combination of art courses and computer training. An events planner would need to do strategic planning, create marketing materials, and execute multimedia events. Some general tasks for multimedia professionals include: proficient in software programs like Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver, or Macromedia Flash, create prototypes or storyboards, analyze customer needs, and identity target audiences.

The demand for skilled professionals is skyrocketing. The entertainment industry, video game companies, advertising firms, and computer companies hire multimedia artists and animators. Some examples include: Disney, Pixar and Sega of America. Some professionals choose to work as freelance consultants, promoting their services to companies without a full-time creative staff.

Employers will often ask for a resume, portfolio and coversheet to be emailed to them for review. Later, the top applicants will be given an appointment to be interviewed.
